If I put all my friends together and ask them who is happy with their body, I know that at least 90% of them are going to answer no. Everyone wants to lose or gain weight, or to tone, be taller, have a different nose, have bigger boobs and so on. But, for sure, I feel that being unhappy with their weight is people's number one complaint around me. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. However, what upsets me, is the fact that some people waste their time complaining, instead of doing something to change it. It's the fact that they spend hours looking pictures of skinnier people and hating themselves for the way they look. It leads to crazy diets, starving themselves, and end up only damaging their own health.
Since we live in a society that often judges you by your body type, it's very hard to ignore that. Many people ask me for fitness tips, or for my secret to a nice body, and I have decided to give some tips here on my blog. My first tip is to love and respect your body! Your body is yours for your entire life, and the way you take care of it will affect the way you live, and how long you live. Easy for me to say that because I am skinny? Yes, people tell me that all the time. But it was not always like that. I used to be very unhappy with my body, and tried different diets and detox that never worked. The only solution for me was to find a balance, and stick to the commitment of taking care of myself. Yes, I do avoid eating some things that I used to love, and it's not easy, but we have to make our choices of what is best for us. I am very happy eating vegetables and fruits. I learned to love them, and once you start eating them, you see the difference in your skin and hair. I avoid processed and fast food as much I can, because I learned how much they don't fulfill your body's needs. I adapted a workout routine, and now I see myself going to the gym even more than I need, because it makes me feel SO GOOD!
So, today I can say that I am happy with my body! I am happy because thanks to my body I can walk, run, jump, dance, and live my life with barely any physical limitations. Our bodies are presents from God to us, and I want to take the best care of it. Not just because I want to look good in my new dress, but because I want to be healthy and strong. I want to reach my sixties being able to travel, hike, dance, and take care of my family. Be there strong for them! I want to eliminate the risk of diseases that have affected my family such as cholesterol and high blood pressure. And I want to be proud every morning when I look at myself in the mirror.
