Sun's Out Sandals Out

Although the Spring season has started more than a month ago, it has been still hard to have a nice and warm day. Why so cold NYC? Enough it's enough!

When I saw the forecast for 75 degrees last Wednesday there was no doubt; I had to do something outside! Lindsey, her mom who was visiting from Amsterdam, and I went on a boat that cruises in the Hudson River in the west side of Manhattan, overseeing the skyline and the Statue of Liberty. It was a glorious day!

Embora a primavera ter comecado a mais de um mês atrás, ainda esta difícil termos um dia agradável e quente. Por que tão frio NYC? CHEGAAA de frio!

Quando eu vi a previsão para 24 graus na quarta-feira não tive dúvida; eu nao podia ficar dentro de casa! Entao juntamente com a Lindsey e a mãe dela que mora em Amsterdam mas estava visitando NY fomos em um passeio de barco que navega no rio Hudson, no lado oeste de Manhattan, com vista pro highline e Estátua da Liberdade. Foi um dia glorioso!

And it was the first day of the year that I could finally wear sandals! I was wearing the Huller gladiators from Call it Spring. It felt so good to wear sandals again, and they were so comfortable! I've been looking for the ideal gladiators and I'm very happy with my choice! I love them and three people stopped me to compliment my shoes, which means that I'm not the only one who thinks they look beautiful! Can't wait to wear them again with a dress in another hot day!

E foi o primeiro dia do ano que eu pude finalmente usar sandálias! Eu estava usando gladiadoras da Call it Spring. Foi tão bom usar sandálias novamente, e elas sao super confortáveis! Eu estava procurando por gladiadoras ideais para mim e eu estou muito feliz com a minha escolha! Eu amo essas e três pessoas me pararam para elogiar elas, o que significa que eu não sou a única que achou elas lindas! Mal posso esperar para usar elas novamente com um vestido em um dia mais quente!

DSTLD Jeans: The Perfect Fit For Me

I have no doubt that the type of clothing I wear most are jeans. I wear them almost every day to go to school, work, meetings, grocery shopping, dinners, and even to go party. And because of that, I need jeans that can give me movement and DSTLD jeans have the perfect fit for me. They are amazingly comfortable!

Sometimes it's hard for me with jeans because they slide down my hips, and I have to keep pulling them back up. This doesn't happen with these jeans because the quality of its material is really great. I feel like these pants are hugging me, and I don't need to worry about showing a little bit of underwear or tush when I bend down (haha).

Another reason why I love these jeans is the price. DSLTD designs and delivers premium denim for less than $100. Their jeans are in fact manufactured in the same facility as the top denim brands, but since they are sold only online they don't have to work with third party retailers, reducing the price for us! And of course I also wear them because they are super cute! I love the charcoal color of the one I am wearing! Because I wear jeans all the time I need to be creative to not look the same every day.

Feeling 16 Again

When I wore this outfit and looked at myself in the mirror I felt 16 again. Funny thing is that when I was that age I was not wearing anything like that. Leather jackets and beanies don't match with the weather of Brazil at all, but something about this look made me feel like a teenager.

Quando eu vesti essa roupa e me olhei no espelho me senti com 16 anos novamente. O engraçado é que quando eu tinha essa idade eu não estava usando nada parecido. Jaquetas de couro e beanies não combinam muito com o clima do Brasil. Mas algo sobre esse look me fez sentir adolescente.

Maybe this feeling came from the popping red color of the beanie, I usually wear a basic black one. Or it could have been the silly "Panda" written with "Prada" font on my shirt. Perhaps I was feeling like my beloved "teenagehood" idol: Avril Lavigne.

Talvez esse sentimento veio da cor vermelha da minha beanie, eu geralmente uso uma pretinha basica. Ou do "Panda" escrito com fonte "Prada" na minha regata. Talvez eu estava apenas me sentindo como minha amada idolo durante minha adolescência: Avril Lavigne.

And that is one of my favorite things about fashion: the possibility to go back in time and to remember old memories through a piece of clothing, or just a style. I alway heard my aunt saying that she was too old to wear certain things. But I believe that with a good dose of common sense, everyone should take the chance to wear something that makes us feel younger sometimes.

E essa é uma das minhas coisas favoritas sobre moda: a possibilidade de voltar no tempo e lembrar memórias através de uma peça de roupa, ou apenas um estilo per si. Sempre ouvi minha tia dizer que ela estava velha demais para usar certas coisas. Porem eu acredito que com uma boa dose de bom senso, todos devemos ter a oportunidade de vestir algo que nos faz sentir mais jovens de vem em quando.

The Williamsburg neighborhood has been growing insanely in the past years, and the real estate prices are becoming higher and higher. However, you can still find some spots that are not yet dominated by the new wave of people moving to Brooklyn. This house is one of them.

I have no idea what it was before and why people are not using it, he only thing I know is that it looks so cool. The old rustic architecture and the big American Flag hanging on the door makes me feel like I was taken to the past when I look at it. It's like a piece of old fashioned construction right in the middle of the modern, stylish, and hipster area.

I guess I am not the only one who loves it because I always see people photographing in front of it! For these pictures, it was amazing how the sunlight was beaming against the glass windows, and my lipstick coordinating with the American Flag.

Working from home has its disadvantages. One of them is the fact that if you don't organize yourself well, you might be not so productive as you wish - because you don't have a boss demanding that all the work is done in a certain amount of time. A reliable schedule is fundamental. I have to say that I am becoming better at planning my days working from home. The more you fail to do your tasks, more you improve time management.

Trabalhar em casa tem suas desvantagens. Um deles é o fato de que se você não se organizar bem, você pode não ser tão produtivo como você deseja ( pelo fato de que você não tem um chefe ao seu redor pedindo pedindo pelo trabalho feito em um determinado período de tempo). Um calendário e agenda que funcionam são fundamentais. Eu tenho que confessar que estou melhorando cada vez mais no planejando dos meus dias trabalhando em casa. Quanto mais você deixar de fazer suas tarefas, mais você melhora com o gerenciamento do seu tempo.

However, there is another issue I often face when I am working from home; not being inspired or motivated. Some days I sit in front of my computer and just stare at it, not being able to start anything from my to do list. I am not sure if it’s the coziness of being at home that makes me a little lazy, or the fact that when I am outside and see other people and the world moving, I feel more energized. I am not the only one who feels that way, and that’s why coffee shops are filled with people on their computers. So whenever I have a chance, that’s what I do. I sit somewhere, sipping a delicious latte and getting shit done (ps: get shit done is my new mantra.)

No entanto, há um outro problema que eu muitas vezes enfrento quando estou trabalhando em casa: não ter inspiração. As vezes eu sento na frente do meu computador e fico olhando para ele, sem capacidade de começar qualquer coisa da minha lista de coisas para fazer. Não sei se é por causa do aconchego de casa que me faz ficar um pouco preguiçosa, ou o fato de que quando estou do lado de fora eu vejo outras pessoas e o mundo em movimento, e me sinto mais energizada. Eu não sou a única que se sente assim, e é por isso que os cafés e lugares com wifi estão cheios de pessoas em seus computadores. Sempre que eu tenho uma chance é isso o que eu faço: sento-me em algum lugar, saboreando um delicioso latte e getting shit done (ps: get shit done é o meu novo mantra.)

Another place I love to work is the New York Public Library. I feel extremely lucky to live in NYC and be able to work in a place, which was used as a set location for Sex and The City, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gossip Girls, and so on. The architecture of the library is so gorgeous that I feel like I get an injection of inspiration! And it is by far the most quiet place I have worked. You get gorgeous tables and chairs, outlets to charge your devices, and it’s free! So if you are feeling creatively stuck inside your house: Get out for a few hours and let the world inspire you!

Outro lugar que eu adoro trabalhar é na New York Public Library. Me sinto extremamente sortuda por viver em Nova York e ser capaz de trabalhar em um lugar que foi cenário de Sex and The City, Bonequinha de Luxo, Gossip Girls, e assim por diante. A arquitetura da biblioteca é tão linda que eu sinto como se tivesse tomado uma injeção de inspiração! E é de longe, o lugar mais silencioso que eu ja trabalhei. Você tem acesso à mesas cadeiras, tomadas para carregar seu computador, e é de graça! Então, se você está se sentindo sua criatividade presa dentro da sua casa: saia por algumas horinhas e deixar o mundo te inspirar!

Perfect Weather for a Camel Coat

I think it's so ironic that it is snowing on the first day of Spring. And I know I have complained enough about the winter and the cold, but can you believe the winter being so persistent? It's already March 20th, and it is not only cold but SNOWING!

Eu acho que é tão irônico o fato de estar nevando no primeiro dia da Primavera. E eu sei que eu tenho reclamado o suficiente desse inverno e do frio, mas você pode acreditar em um inverno tão persistente? Já e 20 de marco e ainda está frio e NEVANDO!

After so much horrible weather the last few months, I do feel that I can now defeat any freezing day. It did scare me when I saw the forecast for today, but I am relieved that this will be the last snow of this season (hopefully). And the good thing about this weather is that I can finally wear this great camel coat.

Embora eu gostaria que não estivesse nevando hoje, eu me sinto como se tivesse sido tão frio nos últimos meses que agora eu posso derrotar qualquer dia frio. Sim, levei um susto quando vi a previsão para neve, mas estou aliviada que essa será a última neve dessa temporada (espero).

E a parte boa sobre esse clima mais quente porem ainda frio, é que eu posso finalmente vestir esse sobretudo caramelo.

This coat is not warm enough that I could have worn it in the past few weeks, and I was hoping the weather would not become too hot all of sudden, because I was so eager to wear it. I like this transition of winter to spring, but my Brazilian side is definitely begging for a hot day in a bathing suit.

Esse sobretudo não é quente o suficiente para que eu pudesse ter usado nas últimas semanas, e eu estava torcendo para que o clima não ficasse quente de repente, porque eu queria muito vestir ele. Eu gosto dessa transição suave do inverno para a primavera. Embora meu lado brasileiro estar implorando por um dia quente vestindo apenas um biquini.

California Desert Part Two

My recent trip to California blew my mind even more than I had expected. I have always heard great things about the West Coast and have seen it many times on TV and in movies, but nothing is like actually being there. The first thing that I noticed was the people's hospitality and friendliness. I guess living in NYC made me used to the rhythm of this city that never sleeps, but also doesn't have time for a warm smile or perhaps a thank you. I am not saying that people are rude or mean in New York, I am also part of this place, and I freaking love it here. I just can't ignore that there is something about CA, like a happy vibe in the air. Maybe it was just the weather.

Minha recente viagem para a Califórnia pirou minha cabeca mais do que eu esperava. Sempre ouvi dizer como o West Coast é otimo, e tambem sempre vi nas telas. Mas nada se compara com a sensacao de estar lá. A primeira coisa que me chamou a atenção foi a hospitalidade e simpatia das pessoas. Eu acho que morando em NYC acabei me acostumando com o ritmo dessa cidade que nunca dorme, mas que também não tem tempo para um sorriso ou as vezes um obrigado. Eu não estou dizendo que as pessoas são rudes ou mal educadas em Nova York , eu também sou parte desse lugar e eu f * amo morar aqui. Eu simplesmente não posso ignorar que há algo sobre a CA, como uma vibe feliz no ar. Talvez seja so por causa do clima.

In Palmdale however, the place where these pictures were taken, people were not particularly nice. We found this movie set and although we knew that we needed an authorization to shoot there, we wanted to check out the place. Until a big guy who seemed like he just came out of an 80's movie, wearing weird clothes and an unfriendly face, kicked us out. Ok, he was not that mean, but he looked like it.

Falando sobre pessoas simpaticas, a regra de que as pessoas sao mais simpaticas na Costa Oeste que acabei de mencionar não cabe a uma pessoa que conheci em Palmdale, o lugar onde essas fotos foram tiradas . Encontramos esse cenário de filme e embora nós ja sabíamos que precisávamos de uma autorização para fotografar lá, nós ainda queriamos dar uma olhada no lugar. Até que um cara grande que parecia que tinha acabado de sair de um filme dos anos 80, vestindo roupas estranhas, com uma cara não tao amigável, nos expulsou. Ok, ele não foi tão bravo como parecia que seria.

We got to take some pictures near the movie set and then we moved back to the beautiful desert, where we took most of the pictures. There is no way I can describe how it feels to be there in the middle of nowhere. I felt like I was part of a movie. I was fascinated by its immensity, the Joshua trees and cactuses, the snakes holes in the warm sand, and the sun shining so bright that I could barely keep my eyes open! I guess that was what I liked the most about this trip. The chance to see the imaginable and the unimaginable.

Nós conseguimos tirar algumas fotos perto do set de filmagem e em seguida voltamos para o deserto lindo, onde tiramos a maioria dessas fotos. Não há outra maneira para descrever o sentimento de estar lá no meio do nada, me senti como se estivesse em um filme. Fiquei fascinada com a imensidão do deserto, os cactus, os buracos na areia quente feitos pelas cobras, e o sol brilhando tão forte que eu mal conseguia manter os olhos abertos! Eu acho que isso foi o que eu mais gostei sobre essa viagem. A chance de ver o imaginavel e o inimaginável.

California Desert

I think you might have noticed by now, but my girlfriend Lindsey and I love to take photos. So we really wanted to visit photogenic places during our trip to California and one of them was the Palm Desert.

We stayed in LA for majority of our time in CA, but we also visited other cities such a Palm Spring. The Palm desert is located near the highway that we had to drive through in order to get to Palm Springs. We arrive at the Desert a little bit late and almost missed the sunlight.

We had to be really fast choosing where we wanted to shoot, parking the car, preparing the camera equipment, and getting the shots. You can notice how the sky changed it's colors in these photos. We basically had 15 min to enjoy the light and get the best out of it.

And I believe we did a great job because the lighting in this photo is my favorite par. So I totally recommend shooting in the Desert during the sunset hours if possible.

This fringe jacket matches perfectly the vibe of the Desert, and these photos got featured in SO many websites. My advice is to explore different possibilities if you are going to shoot in a place like this. Dive in the boho style, or whatever you think is ideal for desert photos, whithout being afraid of wearing something different, because that is your chance to create your own Desert Editorial.

We got a little stressed out about the time because we had to shoot really fast, and also because Lindsey told me to be careful with snakes and I was kind of freaking out haha. But when we got the photos done and I got calmer, I looked around me and the view was surreal! Like any other place I had seen before! Imagine an infinity space with cactus, Joshua trees, mountains, and the gorgeous pink sky!

Pay attention to this look, and try to imagine it without the sequined jacket. I am mad at myself for not have taken a picture without it, so I could make my point clearer, but I guess you can picture it in your minds: it would be a totally simple, plane, and basic outfit. Black dress and black shoes. But when I put the jacket on: BANG! This shining jacket instantly makes me look ready for a party or fancy dinner.

Presta atenção nesse look e tenta imagina-lo sem a jaqueta. Estou com raiva de mim mesma por não ter tirado algumas fotos sem ela, assim que eu poderia fazer fazer o meu ponto de vista mais claro. Eu acho que vocês conseguem imaginar. Seria um look totalmente simples e basico: vestido preto e botas pretas. Mas quando eu coloquei a jaqueta: BANG! essa jaqueta brilhante me deixa pronta para uma festa ou um jantar chique.

I love powerful pieces like this because it makes our lives a lot easier when we need to look a little more fabulous than usual. Just throw it on and look glamorous instantly.

Eu amo peças statement como essa jaqueta de sequins, porque torna a nossa vida muito mais fácil quando queremos ficar um pouco mais fabulosas do que o normal. Basta jogá-la em cima do seu look e ficar glamurosa instantaneamente.

This jacket has lots of shine, and it's definitely an attention-getter, so don't wear it along with other bright pieces. Try a monochrome look like I did, and limit yourself when choosing accessories. Keep it simple: less is more!

These photos were taken at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater in San Francisco, a beautiful and photogenic place recommended by my dear friend Lallie Paoli.

Só não se esqueça de que o item da vez é a jaqueta! Ela tem muito brilho, é definitivamente chama muita atenção, por isso não tente usá-la junto com outras peças brilhantes. Tente um look monocromático como eu fiz, e se limite quando estiver escolhendo acessórios. Mantenha simples: menos é mais!

I woke up in San Francisco

After arriving in LA and exploring the area for three days (and eating the best sushi for three days), we started our drive towards San Francisco. I will never forget all the beautiful places I saw during this trip; Malibu, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Monterey, and Santa Cruz.

I feel extremely blessed for having had the chance to visit those places, and was so impressed with how gorgeous and delightful California is.

Após o desembarque em Los Angeles e três dias explorando a regiao (e comer o melhor sushi por três dias), começamos a viagem em direção a Sao Francisco. Eu nunca vou se capaz de esquecer todos os lugares deslumbrante que vi durante esta viagem; Malibu, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Monterey, e Santa Cruz.

Me senti extremamente abençoada por ter a oportunidade de visitar esses lugares, e tão impressionada como a Califórnia é maravilhosa.

San Francisco was a place I've always wanted to visit, and when I arrived all my expectations were met. It reminded me of NYC in that I could find anything I wanted, like great places to shop, delicious places to eat all kinds of food, and cool places to party for all types of crowd - all with a very chill vibe. And San Francisco also has the magical Marshall Beach, which has the power of switching your mood from stressed out to: WOW man! Life is amazing!

Sao Francisco era um lugar que eu sempre quis conhecer, e quando eu cheguei la todas as minhas expectativas foram correspondidas. Me lembrou um pouco de NYC pelo motivo que eu conseguia encontrar qualquer coisa que eu queria la, como ótimos lugares para fazer compras, muitas opcoes de lugares bons ara comer todos os tipos de comida, e baladas legais para todos os tipos de público. Mas, Sao Francisco tem a mágica Marshall Beach, que tem o poder de mudar o seu estado de espírito de estressado para: UAU meu! Como a vida é incrível!

We had to do a 15-minute hike to get down to the beach. Apart from us, there was hardly anybody there; probably because it was January and on the chilly side (for California). Sitting there, watching the sun go down - its colors producing incredible colors in the sky - listening to the sound of the waves moving, and sinking my toes in the chilled sand, made me realize how many amazing places there are to be explored in this world. I just wanted to raise my hands and thank God for having the chance to wake up in such wonderful places on this trip.

Tivemos que fazer uma pequena trilha para chegar até a praia, cerca de 15 minutos andando. Tinha basicamente ninguém lá além de nós, e alguns outros turistas. Sentada lá e admirando o sol se por, produzindo cores incríveis no céu, ouvindo o som das ondas que se deslocam, afundando os dedos dos pés na areia gelada, me fizeram perceber quantos lugar incríveis existem para serem explorados. Eu só queria levantar as mãos e agradecer a Deus por ter tido a oportunidade de acordar em ugares tao maravilhosos nessa viagem.

Hidden Bloom Beach Dress by Billabong

A few weeks ago I wrote this post sharing my love for Billabong's Fade to White Collection. Today I am wearing a different piece of the collection: the soft and floaty Hidden Bloom Dress.

Algumas semanas atrás eu escrevi esse post sobre o meu amor pela colecao Fade to White da Billabong. Agora estou aqui de novo, mas vestindo uma peça diferente da coleção : Hidden Bloom Dress.

These pictures were taken in Santa Cruz, when Lindsey and I were on our way to San Francisco. This place is peacefully calm, surrounded by tall trees which made me feel far away from my daily worries. This gypsy-chic dress sways with my every move and made me feel carefree. My favorite thing about Billabong is that their fabrics are so comfortable. They know how to make beautiful surf-style clothes that also feel nice on our body.

Essas fotos foram tiradas na praia de Santa Cruz, quando eu e a Lindsey estávamos em nosso caminho para San Francisco. Esse lugar é calmo, tranquilo, e rodeado por árvores que me fizeram sentir longe de todos os meus problemas ou preocupações. Esse vestido me ajudou a senti despreocupada porque é tão confortável! Essa é a minha parte favorita da Billabong. Eles sabem como fazer roupas lindas com uma pegada surf, mas que também sejam confortaveis em nosso corpo. Obrigada Billabong.

Jaime Ashley's One Shoulder Monokini

Right now I am sitting on the couch, staring out the window. Outside I see a beautiful blue sky, and the sun shining. Although it looks nice and warm, when I check the temperature for NYC today on my phone, the numbers show me the reality: 16 degrees F.

I can't stop myself from wishing to still be in California. And to make my desire to be there even more intense, I swipe the cities on my weather app and stop at Palm Springs. I stare at the numbers again: New York City: 16, Palm Springs: 66. And my question is: Why so cold NYC?

Nesse momento eu estou sentanda no sofá, olhando para a janela. Lá fora eu vejo um lindo céu azul, e o sol brilhando. No entanto, mesmo que pareça um dia quente, quando eu verifico a temperatura de NYC para hoje no meu celular, os números me mostram a realidade: -8 graus C.

Eu não consigo parar de querer ainda estar na Califórnia. E para fazer o meu desejo de estar lá ainda mais intenso, eu passo as cidades no aplicativo de climas do celular e paro em Palm Springs. Eu fico olhando para os números novamente: New York City : -8, Palm Springs : 19. E a minha pergunta é: Por que tanto frio NYC?

I am the kind of person who thinks that everything exists for a reason. That everything is good for something, and somehow functional. But when it comes to a such cold weather, I just can't find reasons to like it. It just makes everything less fun, gray, and cold.

I can't wait for spring to come and be able to do simple things like walk outside without the painful feeling of the wind blowing in my face and ears. To be able to go on a run, to do a picnic in the park, to wear a dress, and see people smiling again. Meanwhile, today I am just going to hide inside and day-dream about that Monday in Palm Springs when I sat poolside in this gorgeous One Shoulder Monokini from Jaime Ashley, while the hot desert sun warmed up my soul.

Eu sou do tipo de pessoa que acha que tudo existe por uma razão. Que tudo na vida seja bom para alguma coisa, e tenha alguma forma funcional. Mas quando se trata de um inverno tao frio, eu simplesmente não consigo encontrar razões para gostar dele. Na minha opinião ele só faz tudo menos divertido, cinza e frio.

Estou contando os dias para a primavera chegar e eu poder fazer coisas simples como andar na rua sem a sensação dolorosa do vento soprando no meu rosto e ouvidos. De poder correr, fazer um piquenique no parque, usar um vestido, e ver as pessoas sorrindo novamente. Enquanto isso, hoje eu só vou me esconder dentro de casa, olhando para a janela e sonhando acordada com a segunda-feira que eu estava usando esse Monokini lindo da Jaime Ashley, e o clima quente de Palm Springs aquecia minha alma.

All Black Everything + Red Lips

I've always loved dressing in black, and even more so since I moved to NYC. I started using red lipstick on days that I want to look even better, it's an easy way to make a big difference!

When I have red lipstick on I definitely feel more beautiful and confident.

I am obsessed with this top from Tobi. The twisted back is so gorgeous! And with my hair up in a bun or a ponytail and a maxi necklace the back will get lots of attention.
